Facial Rejuvenation & TMJ
01
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture uses a combination of facial and body points to improve circulation, skin moisture, and muscle tone in the face. It's worth being direct about the evidence here: research is still limited, mostly small studies, though what exists consistently reports positive results on wrinkle appearance and skin condition.
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture
02
Facial rejuvenation treatment targets the muscles responsible for expression lines — particularly around the forehead and brow — using both local needling and body points that support skin moisture and elasticity from the inside out. A 2025 randomized trial found meaningful improvement in frown line appearance and patient satisfaction that held through 12 weeks.
Facial Tension
03
A tense jaw, tight forehead, or clenched masseter muscle is often the face's version of whole-body stress. Treatment here draws on the same muscle and nervous-system-calming mechanisms used for TMJ and jaw pain, releasing the chronic low-grade clenching that most people don't notice they're doing until it's pointed out.
TMJ Acupuncture
04
TMJ disorder is one of the better-researched applications in this entire pillar. Multiple meta-analyses have found acupuncture reduces jaw pain and improves how far the mouth opens, with effects that hold up against both sham treatment and other active interventions.
Jaw Pain
05
Jaw pain — whether from TMJ dysfunction, clenching, or muscular tension — responds to the same mechanisms as TMJ treatment generally: reduced muscle tension, improved local circulation, and calming of the referred pain patterns that make jaw pain radiate into the temples and ears.
Teeth Grinding / Bruxism
06
Bruxism has a real neurological basis — it's tied to the same central nervous system pathways that regulate stress. I want to be upfront that acupuncture research on bruxism specifically is thin: a handful of small trials, several in children, with generally positive but not yet conclusive results. It's a reasonable complement to a night guard or stress-focused care, not a replacement for either.
Bell's Palsy
07
Bell's palsy brings sudden weakness on one side of the face: a drooping mouth, an eye that will not fully close, an expression that no longer feels like your own. Many people recover over weeks to months, and medical care in the first days matters most, so anyone with sudden facial weakness should be seen urgently first. Acupuncture is used alongside that care to support the recovery of the facial nerve and muscles. A meta-analysis of 14 trials found a higher response rate with acupuncture than with comparison therapies, though the studies varied widely.
